"APRA Condemns Terror Attack in Burkina Faso, Calls for Dialogue and Action on Mpox and Flooding Crises"
The African Public Relations Association (APRA) strongly condemns the recent terror attack in Barsalogho, Burkina Faso, which resulted in significant loss of life and injury to many. We are deeply concerned about the escalating terror attacks in Burkina Faso and other parts of Africa.
APRA calls for an immediate cessation of all forms of attacks, particularly on unarmed civilians. We advocate for dialogue as a more civilized approach to conflict resolution, rather than violent attacks that lead to destruction and catastrophic outcomes.
We are also gravely concerned about the mpox outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which has claimed over 500 lives, and the devastating floods in Sudan, affecting 70 communities and critical infrastructure.
As a continent, Africa faces numerous humanitarian crises, and entrenched terror attacks only exacerbate these challenges. APRA urges increased, sincere, and responsible conversation and concrete actions among state actors and stakeholders to address these and future challenges.
We call on the World Health Organization (WHO) to strengthen collaboration with the DRC government to combat mpox, which remains a significant global health threat.
APRA stands in solidarity with the governments and people of Burkina Faso, DRC, and Sudan, offering condolences to those who have lost loved ones and wishing speedy recovery to the injured and displaced.
