ABUJA, NIGERIA July, 2025 -

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Friends of Regent Primary School (FORPS), Maitama, Abuja, has donated two manual boreholes to Kogo II and Barangoni communities in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The commissioning of the boreholes took place on Friday, 4th July 2025, and marked a significant milestone in FORPS’s ongoing commitment to community development and social impact.

Speaking at the event, Chairperson of FORPS, Mrs. Salma Dahiru Muhammed, described the intervention as a vital step toward addressing the basic needs of underserved communities.

“Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, yet many areas in Abuja still face this basic challenge,” she said. “Our goal is to provide sustainable access to potable water, promote better health, support community development, and ultimately improve living conditions.”

Mrs. Muhammed highlighted the importance of collective effort, adding:

“These boreholes are a testament to the power of shared vision and community-driven solutions. We are deeply grateful to all donors and volunteers whose generosity made this possible. FORPS remains committed to uplifting vulnerable communities.”

Mr. Shaun Stockden, Headmaster of Regent Primary School, noted that the project was conceived and completed within just seven months.

“Each year, we host fundraisers to support high-impact projects like this. We are proud of what has been achieved and excited about future interventions.”

Vice Chairperson of FORPS, Mrs. Fiona Ewa, recalled a viral video showing humans and animals sharing the same water source in a rural area — a moment that spurred the group to take immediate action.

“Seeing such inhumane conditions moved us deeply,” she said. “Providing clean, reliable, and sustainable water not only improves hygiene but transforms lives. Each of these boreholes can supply up to 3,000 liters of water daily.”

In response, Chief Samuel Gimba of Kogo II and Mr. Timothy Yohana of Barangoni expressed their heartfelt appreciation on behalf of their communities. They described the donation as life-changing and pledged to maintain the water facilities responsibly.

The borehole project by FORPS stands as a shining example of how grassroots initiatives, driven by compassion and vision, can bring tangible and lasting impact to the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
