Gaidam Flags Off Construction of Smart Police Headquarters in Mpape to Boost Security

ABUJA, NIGERIA December, 2024 - The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has officially launched the construction of a modern Divisional Police Headquarters and six Rank and File Quarters in Mpape, Bwari Area Council, Abuja. The project, spearheaded by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), aims to enhance security in the area and ensure a safer environment for residents and businesses.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held at Kamtape, Mpape, was attended by the Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed Sheidu, and the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, CP Olatunji Disu. Representing the Minister at the event, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu, praised the NPTF for its proactive approach to addressing security challenges in Bwari Area Council.
In his address, Argungu stated:
"The establishment of this divisional police headquarters will safeguard citizens and commuters from crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, and other security threats, ensuring a safer and more conducive environment for daily activities."
He also called on the Nigeria Police Force to maintain its synergy with local communities and other security agencies to strengthen law enforcement and ensure effective prosecution of offenders.
Senator Gaidam reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to modernizing policing in Nigeria. He highlighted efforts to create an inclusive, technology-driven, and community-based police force through comprehensive reforms. He also reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes community policing, transparency, and fostering stronger bonds between the police and the public.
The District Head of Mpape, Alhaji Adamu Diga, expressed gratitude for the decision to upgrade the Mpape Police Post to a Divisional Headquarters, noting that the development will significantly enhance the efficiency of police operations and service delivery in the district.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed Sheidu, described the project as a milestone in modernizing police infrastructure across the country. He noted that the facility represents a commitment to equipping the police with cutting-edge infrastructure to improve their operational capacity and welfare.
He added,"This project is more than just a building; it symbolizes our collective resolve to enhance the Nigeria Police Force's effectiveness. Similar initiatives will be replicated across the six geopolitical zones to ensure national security."
The event underscores the Federal Government’s dedication to creating a world-class police force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges in Nigeria.
