ABUJA, NIGERIA October, 2024- The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. James Sule, has inaugurated a Delivery Task Team to track and evaluate the implementation of Presidential Priorities and Ministerial Deliverables within the Ministry and its agencies. The task team, which includes representatives from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), and the Police Academy, was officially inaugurated during a ceremony at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Sule highlighted that the core responsibility of the Delivery Officers and the newly formed task team is to collect, analyze, and present data related to the Ministry’s performance. This data will be shared with the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) to ensure alignment with the government’s Performance Management System.

He further explained that the task team’s objective is to enhance the capacity of desk officers, streamline service delivery, and generate concrete data to monitor how departments and organizations are contributing to the Ministry’s overall outcomes.

“As you know, the Ministerial Mandate is a key aspect of the government's policy focus, reflecting the efforts of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in implementing the eight priority areas of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. These priorities aim to improve the quality of life for Nigerians, fostering a sense of unity and compassion, and addressing social challenges,” said Mr. Sule.

He also noted that these priorities are designed to promote good governance and ensure Nigeria’s progression toward prosperity. The initiative is part of a broader effort to institutionalize a robust delivery system within the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary urged all departments and agencies to submit their quarterly reports to the Planning, Research, and Statistics Department, which will then forward comprehensive reports to the Office of the CDCU under the leadership of the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination.

Mr. Esege E. Esege, the Coordinator of the CDCU, explained that the unit is responsible for identifying Presidential Priorities in collaboration with Ministries and ensuring that resources are channeled effectively. He added that the CDCU works with citizens, development partners, and the Open Government Partnership (OGP) to monitor progress and provide quarterly reports to the President on the status of key policies, programs, and projects.

The Press Release was signed by Bolaji O. Kazeem Deputy Director (Information & Public Relations)
