NCC Unveils Digital Economy Awareness Fora to Drive Inclusive National Development
By Gloria Sarauniya Usman
ABUJA, NIGERIA November, 2025 - The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of its Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora, a new platform aimed at strengthening policy engagement, innovation, and infrastructure development for Nigeria’s digital future. Scheduled for November 13, 2025, the initiative is designed to support national efforts toward bridging policy and infrastructure gaps in the evolving digital economy.
With the theme “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” the inaugural forum will convene policymakers, industry experts, innovators, and community stakeholders to explore practical strategies for closing Nigeria’s digital divide. Key discussions will centre on inclusive digital policies, accessible infrastructure rollout, adaptive literacy programmes, and improved affordability of digital services.
Recognizing that Africa has the world’s youngest population—60% under the age of 25—the NCC said it is committed to leveraging Nigeria’s demographic advantage while ensuring that underserved communities are not excluded from the nation’s digital progress. The Commission added that the fora will also reinforce ongoing efforts to safeguard over 140 million Internet users in the country.
The programme is being organized in collaboration with major stakeholders, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), ATCON, FintechNGR, KOICA, ANI, NUC, JONWAD, Imose Technologies, NBTE, and others—reflecting a broad coalition dedicated to driving digital equity.
The event will feature panel sessions, exhibitions from innovators and students, and a nationwide livestream via scf.ncc.gov.ng, offering Nigerians across all regions the opportunity to participate in shaping an inclusive and empowered digital economy.
