ABUJA, NIGERIA September, 2025 - The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa, has reiterated the agency’s strong commitment to advancing Nigeria’s digital economy through green technology and innovation.

Speaking at the 3rd Technology Ecosystem Dialogue (TED 2025), organised by the Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN), Inuwa—represented by his Special Adviser on Innovation and Research, Mr. Lukman Lamid—praised the dialogue’s theme, “Green Tech and Energy Revolution: Transforming Business and Society,” describing it as both timely and visionary.

He noted that the focus on green technology aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its goals of economic diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, and innovation. Inuwa highlighted NITDA’s ongoing initiatives such as iHatch, the National Innovation Challenge, IgniteHer, We Elevate, and Renewed Hope Innovation Nest, all aimed at equipping youth, women, and MSMEs with digital tools to create scalable solutions.

“Green technology is no longer optional but a necessity,” he said, stressing the importance of partnerships between government, industry, academia, and citizens to build a sustainable and inclusive digital future. He assured stakeholders of NITDA’s commitment to driving policies and collaborations that will position Nigeria as a leader in green innovation across Africa.

Delivering the keynote, Dr. Krakrafaa Bestman, a sustainability expert, underscored Nigeria’s renewable energy opportunities in solar, wind, and hydro resources while noting the challenges of access to electricity. He urged adoption of circular economy practices, strict safety standards, and stronger investment reforms to ensure Nigeria achieves its renewable energy targets.
