The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to launch a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing digital literacy across Nigeria.
The strategic partnership seeks to bridge the digital divide and empower the next generation to thrive in an increasingly digital world, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
The initiative aims to provide practical training in key areas such as software development, data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital marketing, reaching 30 million Nigerian youths, including NYSC members, by 2027.
Speaking at the launch, NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi emphasized the importance of digital literacy, citing global research predicting a talent deficit of 85 million by 2030, which could result in a loss of $8.5 trillion in annual value if unaddressed.
The initiative will involve training Corp Members during their service year and using them as digital literacy ambassadors across Nigeria, with a target of achieving 95% digital literacy by 2030.
The Minister of State for Youth, Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, and the Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen YD Ahmed, commended the collaboration and expressed their commitment to the initiative's success.
