ABUJA, NIGERIA - May 16, 2024 - The Honourable Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the Honourable Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, jointly unveiled the logo and features of the Young and Secure project, a core initiative of the Renewed Hope Program aimed at restoring trust, strengthening collaboration, and renewing the hope of young Nigerians in the Police Force.

The project, an engagement initiative of the Ministry of Police Affairs and the Ministry of Youth Development, seeks to enhance collaboration between the youth and the police towards strengthening national security. It elevates the role of Nigerian youth in the security architecture of the nation, empowering them to be watchguards and active participants in ensuring the safety and security of their communities.

The initiative comprises three main blocks: A Pact to enhance civic commitment and government commitment to security needs, youth-focused engagement that permeates youth culture, and a technology-driven transparency, accountability, and reporting platform for prompt reporting and resolution of issues.

The Ministers emphasized the importance of collective efforts from government agencies, civil society organizations, the media, and active participation from youth and other stakeholders to achieve the objectives of the Young and Secure project.

The Inspector General of Police's representative, DIG Dasuki Galadachi, highlighted ongoing police reforms and the reactivation of the youth help desk to enable citizens to report challenges with the police.

This initiative marks another milestone in the administration's commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and prosperity of every Nigerian citizen.
