ABUJA, NIGERIA August 14, 2024 -


The Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, has reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to mitigating the immediate effects of its policies, which will pave the way for a brighter future for Nigerian youths, rebuild the nation, and establish a just and egalitarian society where every youth has equal opportunities to reach their full potential.


Speaking at the Nigeria Police Force Youth Summit, commemorating the 2024 United Nations International Youth Day, Gaidam highlighted various government initiatives, including the operationalization of the student loan scheme, approval of the new minimum wage, suspension of tariffs on essential food and drugs, and support for local refining of petroleum products.


The Minister emphasized the importance of youth engagement in national security and encouraged constructive discourse with the government. He praised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for its commitment to youth development and empowerment.


Gaidam also addressed recent protests, noting that the government heard the message of peaceful protesters but condemned the actions of those who hijacked the protests, causing destruction and chaos.


He concluded by thanking Nigerian youths for accepting President Tinubu's call for dialogue and extended condolences to the families of deceased youths.
