Katsina State Seeks NIGCOMSAT Partnership for Economic Growth

Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, has called for a partnership with the Nigerian Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd to connect critical institutions and agencies in the state. This initiative aims to unlock Katsina's economic potential by providing connectivity.
The Governor made the call when receiving the Managing Director and CEO of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Mrs. Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, on a courtesy visit at the State Governor's Lodge in Abuja. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between federal and state agencies to achieve transformative goals like technology transfer.
The state requires connectivity for various projects, including:
- Equipping model schools with 24-hour internet facilities
- Connecting seven major hospitals
- Establishing an ICT Centre for youth development
- Creating a Katsina Geographical Information Centre
- Developing e-learning platforms
Governor Radda acknowledged the link between poverty and insecurity, believing that internet access can empower young people by providing opportunities for economic gain through online ventures. He also envisions a more digitalized civil service with less reliance on paper files and a shift towards computer-based operations.
Earlier, Mrs. Egerton-Idehen expressed NIGCOMSAT's interest in exploring mutually beneficial partnerships in areas like agriculture and rural internet connectivity. She commended the Governor's warm reception and the state's engagement with NIGCOMSAT services.
