ABUJA, AUGUST, 2024 - The Labour Party has distanced itself from Chief Olusola Ebiseni, Secretary-General of Afenifere, as its candidate in the November 16 Ondo governorship election.
In a statement, National Publicity Secretary Mr. Obiora Ifoh clarified that Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi emerged as the party's flag bearer after the primaries in Akure in June. Ebiseni, who contested for the PDP governorship ticket and lost, has not relinquished his PDP membership nor identified with the Labour Party.
Ifoh emphasized that Olorunfemi's name was submitted to INEC and published as the Labour Party's duly nominated candidate. He warned against impersonation and proxy battles, urging security agencies to apprehend anyone involved.
The Labour Party expressed confidence in winning the election with Olorunfemi, a credible candidate and grassroots politician. Ifoh called on party members and the electorate to ignore the "gang up" against the party and vote for Olorunfemi.
