"NASENI Launches ASPEN Plus Training to Boost Engineering and Renewable Energy Expertise"

By Gloria Sarauniya Usman

ABUJA, NIGERIA November, 2024-

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has commenced a week-long intensive training on ASPEN Plus, a state-of-the-art process simulation software, at its Virtual Manufacturing Lab in Abuja. This hybrid training, organized across NASENI’s Development Institutes, represents a pivotal step in the agency's efforts to strengthen technical expertise in renewable energy and engineering design.

Dr. Chika Ezeanyanso, Deputy Director of NASENI’s Nano Science Department, delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, representing the agency's Executive Vice Chairman (EVC). Dr. Ezeanyanso underscored NASENI's commitment to empowering its workforce with cutting-edge knowledge to drive innovation in renewable energy, expressing appreciation for the EVC’s ongoing support in keeping NASENI’s personnel at the forefront of technological advancement, particularly in biogas and sustainable energy sectors.

Engr. Anas Yazid Balarabe, Special Adviser to the EVC on Science and Engineering Commercialization, addressed the trainees, highlighting the significance of bridging the gap between research and commercialization. He noted that the skills gained in this training will enable NASENI to advance renewable energy solutions, transforming research into market-ready products that address Nigeria's energy needs and contribute to sustainable development.

The ASPEN Plus training follows NASENI's recent Biogas and Biomethanol Plant Design training held in partnership with SRH Berlin University, as part of a broader strategy to enhance the agency's technical capacity in renewable energy design and commercialization. The 50 engineers and biochemists selected for this advanced program will gain skills in process design, optimization, and simulation, equipping them to make valuable contributions toward Nigeria’s sustainable energy goals.

Participants are expected to apply the skills acquired to develop more efficient biogas plants and other renewable energy projects. Dr. Ezeanyanso encouraged them to leverage this opportunity for the benefit of NASENI and Nigeria as a whole.

The Press Release was e-Signed by
