NASENI Launches Skills Acquisition Programme for Osun Youths

ABUJA, NIGERIA July, 2024 -
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has inaugurated a three-day intensive training programme on modern shoemaking and tailoring for youths in Ife, Osun State. The programme, which commenced on July 8, 2024, and will conclude on July 10, 2024, is being held at the NASENI Skill Acquisition Centre in Ife Federal Constituency, Osun State.
Representing the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Director of Manufacturing Services, Engineering Infrastructure Directorate, Engr. Dr. Olayode Adesola Olasupo, declared the programme open. He emphasized that the training aims to equip participants with hands-on experience in modern tailoring and shoe making techniques.
NASENI, as an agency under the Presidency, is mandated to develop a dynamic Science and Engineering infrastructure base for achieving home-initiated and home-sustained industrialization in Nigeria. To achieve this, critical skill development is essential. The establishment of NASENI Skill Acquisition Centres across Nigeria is a step in this direction. The Ife Federal Constituency Centre is the first of its kind in Osun State.
The training aligns with the Federal Government's Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes ending poverty, economic growth, and job creation. This initiative demonstrates NASENI's commitment to empowering youths with vocational skills for a sustainable future.
