ABUJA, NIGERIA August 14, 2024 - In a groundbreaking move to enhance Nigeria's defence capabilities and achieve self-reliance in military hardware production, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Defence and Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) on August 14, 2024.
This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in Nigeria's quest to strengthen its defence infrastructure through indigenous innovation and technological advancement.
NASENI's Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasized the importance of the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) as a national imperative, highlighting the need for Nigeria to develop homegrown solutions to address emerging threats in a rapidly evolving global security environment.
The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, and senior officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
This partnership aims to establish a robust ecosystem for the development, production, and maintenance of military equipment, reducing reliance on foreign imports and contributing to Nigeria's economic growth.
