In alignment with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at fostering wealth creation and youth employment, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has successfully trained 100 youths in Ebonyi State on modern electrical installation and maintenance techniques.

The 5-day intensive training, held from November 26 to 29, 2024, at Remeritona Hotel and Suites, Abakaliki, focused on advanced electrical wiring installation, appliance repair, solar power solutions, electrical panel maintenance, safety inspections, and system upgrades.

At the closing ceremony, NASENI's Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, represented by the Coordinating Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Ibrahim Baba Dauda, highlighted the agency's commitment to job creation and skills development. He noted that the training aligns with the Renewed Hope 8-Point Agenda, addressing poverty reduction, economic growth, and youth empowerment.

"Statistics show a growing demand for skilled electrical and maintenance professionals due to increased construction activities. This training is part of NASENI's strategic efforts to meet industry needs and equip our youth with employable skills," Mr. Dauda explained.

This initiative marks the third phase of NASENI's South-East skill acquisition programs, with previous sessions held in Anambra (solar installation and maintenance) and Imo States. Mr. Halilu reiterated the importance of equipping the participants with tools and skills for a sustainable livelihood, urging them to use the provided startup kits responsibly.

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, represented by the Commissioner for Skill Development and Job Creation, Hon. Elijah Okwu Oko Udu, praised NASENI for its partnership. "This program underscores Ebonyi State's vision to empower our youth with opportunities to succeed, contribute to society, and build a resilient economy," he said.

Beneficiaries received modern electrical tools, including safety gear, cordless drills, wire strippers, and wireless inspection cameras. These tools aim to support their professional journey while fostering economic self-reliance.

The participants expressed gratitude to NASENI and pledged to utilize their skills and tools to drive personal and community development.
