LAGOS, NIGERIA October, 2024 - The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Nigeria as a global leader in the digital economy, emphasizing innovation-driven growth and inclusive development. This was highlighted during the 3rd edition of the TeXcellence Conference, held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, the Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnerships, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, delivered a keynote address focused on the agency’s latest Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP) 2.0 for 2024-2027. Speaking on the theme, Policy to Implementation: Collaborative Approach to National Digital Growth, Dr. Onumo emphasized the importance of a unified digital social contract with the Nigerian community, structured around eight key pillars that aim to drive economic development and technological empowerment.
"Our goal is to make Nigeria a digitally empowered nation, fostering economic inclusiveness through technological advancements," Onumo said. "We have recalibrated our systems and realigned our strategy to fit the vision of the federal government and our supervising ministry."
The SRAP 2.0 blueprint lays out NITDA's vision for transforming Nigeria’s digital landscape, addressing cybersecurity challenges, and bridging socio-economic disparities. In addition, the plan prioritizes digital literacy, tech talent development, and inclusion of marginalized groups, including women and people with special needs.
Inuwa urged industry collaboration and partnerships to support indigenous tech initiatives and ensure Nigeria’s relevance in the global digital space. "Collaboration is key to unlocking economic prosperity and scaling digital innovations. We are determined to build a strong, agile digital future for Nigeria," he concluded.
The TeXcellence Conference, hosted by CWG Plc, brought together leading tech experts, business leaders, and innovators to share insights on emerging trends and solutions shaping the technology ecosystem.
