Police Affairs Ministry Bids Farewell to Permanent Secretary, Highlights Mentorship as Key to Leadership

ABUJA, NIGERIA November, 2024 - The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Mr. James Sule, has officially retired after 35 years of dedicated service to the nation.
During his send-forth ceremony, held at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Sule emphasized the importance of leadership and mentorship in fostering effective service delivery.
Addressing the directorate cadre, he urged them to take on the responsibility of mentoring younger officers within the service to ensure continuity and excellence. “Leadership starts and ends with individuals taking responsibility,” he remarked. “It is not limited to the president, vice president, or governors. Each one of us has the capacity to make a positive impact in our communities. Whether as a union leader, assistant director, or principal officer, strive to be fair, accountable, and transparent in all your actions.”
Reflecting on his career, the retired Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to the Ministry’s management and staff for their teamwork and support. “Working with such a talented and committed team has been a privilege. Together, we achieved so much in a short time, contributing meaningfully to nation-building,” he stated.
The Director Overseeing the Permanent Secretary’s Office, Mr. Yusuf Abubakar Argungu, praised Mr. Sule’s contributions and mentorship. He noted that his influence would continue to inspire the Ministry’s staff even after retirement. “Retirement isn’t the end; it’s the beginning of a new chapter. We are grateful for the invaluable lessons and memories you’ve shared with us. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement,” he said.
The event was a heartfelt tribute to Mr. Sule’s legacy and leadership, celebrating his remarkable contributions to the Ministry and the nation over the years.
